Chapter Eight

Kane

Dating was never all that important to me.

Girls got in the way of my plans before. In high school I went out a few times, fooled around a little, but it was never serious for me. Because no one was ever going to be enough to hold me back. No one was going to put me off my game and have me risking my future.

Now, it took one date with one woman for me to want to risk it all.

Watching Kinsley gaze up at the screen set up in the park, I know nothing will ever be this good. No date could ever top this one. We did it a little backwards, sure. I guess once we knew this was happening, there was no chance of us keeping our hands to ourselves.

“Mmm, you smell so good. Have I told you that yet?” I murmur against her neck as I drag her closer, snuggling into her softness.

Giggling, she nods as my hands rub up and down her thighs. I can’t stop touching her. I can still remember how tight I fit inside her, how her perfect tits bounced as she fucked me. How soft she was when I held her after, both of us breathless and satisfied.

“Well, you smell delicious. Even better now because of the popcorn. I tried to figure out what you wore once,” I admit, kissing down her throat. “I went to that perfume place with Hailee and Paisley just to try to find what one you might wear. The guys still give me shit for it.”

“Kane, how many people know that you…well, that you were…”

“Obsessed with the hottest professor on campus? Anyone who saw how I look at you, I would guess,” I tease, gripping her thighs as she tenses. “I am kidding, babe. Connor and Bran know, of course. They know I come to the class just to see you. Dash might know, another dude on the team. He’s a cool kid though, he idolizes Connor so he would never run his mouth for fear of pissing off his QB.”

“You said you never loved football. You talk about it as if you do.”

“Well, I love it a little, I guess,” I answer, thinking about it. Now that I have her, I know there is nothing even close to this. Not football, not my buddies on the team, not even my degree. She is it for me, the single most important thing to me now. I never thought I had a shot with her and now that she’s mine, I won’t ever let her regret giving me a shot. “I love the guys. Being on a team, it was the first time I knew what a family could be like. Tell me about your family, baby. I want to know everything.”

Kinsley turns, snuggling into me as the movie is forgotten. I kiss her lips softly, sensing she is struggling with her answer. I hold her closer, wishing I could take away whatever has the sad look in her eyes.
